CMA and MONRE strengthen cooperation on meteorological science and technology

Today, the tenth working group meeting on cooperation in the field of meteorological science and technology between China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Vietnam was held in Beijing. Both sides discussed the implementation of the cooperation projects and expanding fields. Mr. Tran Hong Ha, Vice Minister of the MONRE, and Mr. Shen Xiaonong, Deputy Administrator of CMA, attended the meeting.

Shen Xiaonong extended warm welcome to the visiting guests. He said both sides had cooperated closely to strive to promote the meteorological science and technological cooperation for economic and social development and the well-fare of the peoples in both countries.

Tran Hong Ha highly praised the achievements of Chinese meteorology saying the cooperation had promoted the economic and social development of China and Vietnam and hoping to take advantage of experience to promote the development of meteorology in both countries.

At the meeting, both sides introduced the latest developments of meteorology in respective country since the ninth joint meeting. They held deep discussions on weather forecast, meteorological information exchange, exchange and joint research in neighboring regions, talent training, exchange of meteorological measurement appraisal, service organization and management, Asian climate prediction and climate change assessment and others.  

It is informed that the cooperation projects agreed in last session of the joint working group meeting have been implemented well.

CMA and MONRE singed an understanding memorandum on meteorological science and technological cooperation in 1993. (Feb. 27)
